"Judgment" is not spelled with an "e"

"Judgment" is one of the most misspelled words in the English language. What's even worse is that many dictionaries list "judgement" as an alternate spelling. This list of the 100 most misspelled words spells "judgment" wrong! That should teach you not to believe everything you read on the internet.

Only people from England are allowed to spell it "judgement." If you're an American, please use good "judgment."

Given that you're going to be pissy about judgment / judgement, you should probably get quotes and commas right. In the U.S., commas always go inside quotation marks.

Thus:

If I were a guy and wrote about "getting lucky", no one would call me a "slut."

Should be:

If I were a guy and wrote about "getting lucky," no one would call me a "slut."

I'll cop to being one that used to misspell "judgment," but the first day of law school changed that.

Wow. Someone else out there actually cares about how "judgment" is spelled besides me and cringes when it is spelled with that dreadful extra letter.

That made my day. w00t.

The latter is more common in American usage, but that does not make the former incorrect.

See here, here, and here.

It is incorrect to say that only people from England are allowed to spell the word judgement. Perhaps you've confused English with a prescriptive language like French.

I always think it's humourous when people get worked up about this stuff. It's all English, just different colours.

Only people from England are allowed to spell Judgement correctly?

How charmingly parochial.

So not the people from Scotland, Wales, Eire, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malta, Gibraltar, South Africa, The Falkland Islands or Australia then?

Or what about people from Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Norway - who are all taught to spell Judgement correctly when they study English?

What a quaint little view of the world you must have.
